Qatar-Japan 2012 Strengthens a Friendship

It is no surprise that Qatar and Japan share a deep connection of friendship and loyalty. This year, we celebrate 40 years of this friendship that only continues to grow. It is a significant milestone, and I am proud to see Reach Out to Asia (ROTA) participate at the Ferjaan Cultural Festival in Tokyo just as actively as they have in other events organized by the Qatar-Japan 2012 Committee throughout the course of this year. Fundraising Iftar brings everyone closer

It was pleasing to see ROTA’s Ramadan 2012 Project once again proving to be a wonderful success. Alongside our traditional Ramadan activities of Iftar, home renovations, food distribution and Garangaou, I was delighted to see an exciting new initiative, ROTA’s first Fundraising Iftar and Auction. Thanks to the generosity of our corporate partners, our Fundraising Iftar raised a magnificent total of QR172,000, money that ROTA will use to construct 10 new Non-Formal Education Projects in Bangladesh. Ramadan shows ROTA at its best

I want to begin by conveying heartfelt greetings to all ROTA staff, volunteers, partners and everyone celebrating Eid Al Fitr – Eid Mubarak! The Holy month of Ramadan is an opportunity to contemplate, to pray and to give generously. Ramadan also allows us to focus on what really matters in life, including the importance of family, communities and neighbors, and those who are less fortunate than ourselves. Open House Shows iEARN Progress

Earlier this month I was impressed to see more evidence of how popular ROTA’s iEARN-Qatar Network has become. We introduced the International Education & Resource Network (iEARN) to Qatar in 2008. So it is fantastic to see the network grow so rapidly with 344 students and 47 teachers from 19 schools showcasing their projects at the ROTA iEARN-Qatar Open House 2012, the biggest Open House event so far. It is always around this time of year, when we reflect and realise how much our volunteers have participated in realizing our goals. People from all walks of life have dedicated their time, to help improve the lives of others. Whether by joining one of our trips, or helping in one of our local activities – these actions have ensured that the lives of many chidlren and families have improved.Our goal is to ensure that people in the most impoverished areas of Asia can access high-quality education.
